Learn more about the Digital Public Library of America via "All Things Considered."

Laura Slidell covered the DPLA in a segment on yesterday's "All Things Considered." You can read about it on the DPLA blog or hear the segment on the NPR web site.

Turn any wall or tabletop into a touchscreen

This is most intriguing thing I've seen in a while. Can't wait to get my hands on one--literally. http://cnet.co/17qAqpQ

Free limited access to journals via JSTOR

In case you missed it, JSTOR now offers free limited access to journal collections. More info from the source I got it from is here. Or you can go straight to JSTOR. Of course, you might check to see if your local public library offers access to JSTOR--especially if you happen to live, work, or go to school in Louisville, Kentucky.

And all this time I thought "big brother" would be Google

"Microsoft device helps police pluck evidence from cyberscene of crime"

That's the headline of a Seattle Times story that was published today. The story is as ominous as the headline makes it sound, unless you're an investigator trying to recover evidence from a computer, in which case I suppose it sounds like a really great stocking stuffer idea. Decide for yourself, here:

British Library ebook masterpieces

I'm a sucker for sites like this one from the British Library that find a way to digitize a book without killing its character. These are definitely worth taking a long look at. See the books here.

YouTube for REAL geeks

Here's a video sharing site worth keeping an eye on. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to join, but it might really help. It was created to give scientists a place to post technical discussions.
